RETHINK BRACES.

Orthodontics has changed. Shouldn’t we rethink our choices, too?

Fixed braces are an established and effective orthodontic treatment. But it´s a very "oldschool" treatment protocol and by far not the only approach. For most cases, modern clear aligners are an alternative worth exploring: discreet, removable and digitally planned around your child’s individual treatment needs. For suitable cases, they offer an effective way to straighten teeth — with the flexibility to remove them for meals and daily oral care.

Before treatment begins, understand why a particular approach is recommended.

Rethink Braces

Brackets and wires stay attached to the teeth throughout treatment. Cleaning around them takes extra time and care. Food can get trapped. Hard and sticky foods need to be avoided. Brackets can come loose. Wires can irritate the cheeks and lips. Teeth may feel sore after adjustments.

Rethink Braces means considering important options before choosing a treatment.

Clear aligners may be an appropriate option when they can address the treatment needs and your child can follow the wear routine.

In some cases, either approach may be suitable. Understanding their different demands helps you make an informed decision together.

IT’S THEIR SMILE.

MAKE THE DECISION TOGETHER.

Your child will live with the treatment every day. Their questions and preferences deserve a place in the conversation.

You don’t need to arrive with all the answers. Start with the questions that matter.

7 QUESTIONS TO ASK BEFORE BRACES

  1. Why are fixed braces being recommended for my child?

  2. Could clear aligners achieve the treatment goals in this case?

  3. What are the benefits, risks and limitations of each option?

  4. How would eating, toothbrushing and everyday routines differ?

  5. How much daily cooperation would each treatment require?

  6. What should we expect in terms of treatment time, total costs and aftercare?

  7. Which option would you recommend for your child — and why?

BEFORE BRACES, LET’S TALK.

Choosing orthodontic treatment for your child starts with a conversation.

At Dr. Jaroch’s practice in Singen, we discuss your child’s needs, explain the available options and help you understand the reasons behind our recommendation.

Understand the options. Ask your questions. Decide together.

FIXED BRACES OPTIONS

1. Traditional Metal Braces
These are the most well-known and widely used braces. They consist of durable metal brackets bonded to the teeth and connected by an archwire. Metal braces are highly effective and cost-efficient, which makes them a common choice for teens. In our practice, they are especially useful in complex cases where strong, reliable force is required to move the teeth efficiently.

2. Ceramic Braces
Similar in function to metal braces, but made of tooth-colored ceramic that blends more naturally with the smile. They are less visible than metal braces, making them a popular choice for young patients who are self-conscious about their appearance. Many of our patients from Singen, the Lake Constance region, and Switzerland opt for ceramic braces for their discreet yet effective performance.

3. Self-Ligating Braces
These braces use special clips instead of rubber bands to hold the archwire in place, which means fewer adjustments and shorter appointment times. For families with busy schedules or patients traveling from Switzerland, self-ligating systems can be a time-saving and comfortable option.
