FAQ: New patients

Frequently asked questions from new patients: booking an appointment, the digital questionnaire and your first visit to Dr. Jaroch's practice in Singen.

10 questions

What can I expect at my first visit?

During your initial appointment, we take the time to get to know you and your dental health. The first visit typically includes:

  • a comprehensive medical and dental history (health background, concerns, goals)

  • a thorough examination of your teeth, gums, and oral tissues

  • discussion of findings and potential treatment options

  • X-rays if medically indicated or requested

  • planning the next steps in your treatment

The goal of your first visit is to provide a safe, transparent, and individualised diagnosis.

How long does the first appointment take?

How long the first appointment takes depends on the clinical findings, your questions and whether any diagnostics (e.g. X-rays) are needed.

Do private patients have to pay for the first visit themselves?

Yes. For privately insured patients, we bill the first appointment directly to you, because reimbursement depends on your specific insurance plan. Depending on your policy, your insurer may reimburse the visit fully, partially or not at all – so you pay for it first yourself.

How much does the first visit cost?

The cost depends on whether X-rays are required.

  • Without X-rays: approx. €40–60

  • With X-rays: approx. €60–100 (depending on the type and number of images)

You will always receive a clear estimate in advance to ensure full cost transparency.

Do I need X-rays at the first appointment?

X-rays are not always required, but they are often recommended to:

  • detect hidden cavities

  • rule out root or bone inflammation

  • evaluate older fillings or dental restorations

  • plan treatment safely and accurately

If you already have recent X-rays (not older than 12 months), you are welcome to bring them or send them to us in advance – this may avoid additional costs.

What documents or information should I bring?

  • your current list of medications

  • any existing X-rays

  • allergy card (if applicable)

  • treatment plans from other dentists (if you want a second opinion)

  • insurance card or private insurance details

What if I am in pain or have an urgent problem?

If you are experiencing pain or have an acute dental problem, we will try to offer you an appointment as quickly as possible.
In this case, the first visit is carried out as an emergency or pain appointment – the focus is on diagnosis, advice, and immediate relief.

Do you offer consultations for specific treatments?

Yes. Among other things, we advise and treat you in these areas:

  • aesthetic dentistry and Anti-Tooth-Aging,

  • braces (aligners and fixed braces),

  • tooth preservation and fillings,

  • periodontology,

  • implantology,
